Prestegårdsvegen 43, 7540 Klæbu

Klæbu Church is a distinctive church from 1790. It is an octagonal church with a self-supporting vaulted ceiling. This means that the church has no interior columns at all. For its time, this was a masterpiece of construction that was not carried out in many other churches. There are 330 seats in the church when the gallery is also in use.

A Clergyman of Many Talents

As a theology student, Arne Skjånes obtained a patent for a matchbox with a “sliding end panel” and separate compartments for unused and spent matches. However, he became a clergyman rather than an inventor, to the benefit of several parishes in the Diocese of Nidaros.

The modest grave tablet of Alfa Mathilde Haugen is an exception. In the past, children with intellectual disabilities were rarely given a gravestone.
